Professor J.R. Worsley

Born and raised in Coventry, England, Professor J.R. Worsley studied physiotherapy while serving as an army education officer in charge of Colleges of the North West Command. After the war he practised physiotherapy and studied and practised osteopathy, naturopathy and Chinese acupuncture. At that time it was not possible to receive professional qualifications in Chinese acupuncture in the West.

In 1960 he journeyed to Taiwan, Singapore and Korea and received his Doctorate of Acupuncture. His Classical Five-Element Acupuncture teachers Ono and Hsui bestowed the rare and honoured classical designation of "Master" upon him.

On returning to England he founded the College of Traditional Acupuncture, UK in the 1950s, the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in 1974 and the Worsley Institute of Classical Acupuncture, USA in 1988. There are other associated Colleges in the United States, France and Norway.

Since the early 1980s he and his wife, Judy Becker Worsley, J.D., D.Ac., have travelled extensively across America conducting training seminars (for students and teachers) and consultations for patients.

Professor Worsley has consulted in various medical centers in America and has lectured at many universities throughout the United States. He has also lectured extensively in France, Spain, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, India, Japan, Taiwan, Hong King, Thailand, Canada and Switzerland.

• Professor of the Argentine Medical Acupuncture Society
• Founder President of the Worsley Institute of Classical Acupuncture, USA
• Founder President of the Master Apprentice Program (MAP™)
